How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
The associate will join the Law Group’s SEC Products and Funds team at Brighthouse Financial, support a team of variable product attorneys and be responsible for preparing regulatory filings, including registration statements.


Key Responsibilities:
⦁    Prepare and coordinate the review of regulatory filings, primarily registration statements for variable annuity, variable life and registered fixed insurance products;
⦁    Develop and maintain tickler files and calendars to coordinate workflow and assure adherence to project timelines, due dates and regulatory deadlines;
⦁    Assist in creation and updating of contracts and agreements related to securities products;
⦁    Organize and maintain legal files;
⦁    Perform legal research and other legal and administrative projects; and
⦁    Develop a strong understanding of the products assigned and the regulatory framework involved.
⦁    Coordinate input to disclosure documents from business lines (including product, marketing, finance, tax, fund administration and investment personnel) and outside accountants; 
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
⦁    Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate required. 
⦁    Experience as a securities laws paralegal, 5 years  preferred
⦁    Experience with registration statements under the Investment Company Act of 1940;  variable product registration is desirable
⦁    Strong oral and written communications skills
⦁    Proficiency in using computers and software, including Microsoft Office Application (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint). 
⦁    Able to work independently and exercise good judgment in a fast-paced environment
⦁    Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
⦁    Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a team environment
⦁    Ability to prioritize multiple assignments
⦁    Experience with electronic document management systems (e.g. ArcProspectus) a plus

  • Compensation: Base salary ranging from $70,000 to $80,000 plus competitive performance-based incentives determined by company and individual results
