How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This position will support the model migration for the VA financial reporting team and will be responsible for analyzing and testing data, streamlining models and process, and validating results.  This individual will work across departments, such as model development, annuity product and IT to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of the model.  This project will allow Brighthouse Financial to reduce dependencies on outside sources for financial reporting and is an essential initiative for the company.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various aspects of the VA Prophet model migration project 
  • Analyze and test data for different streams of the project – admin data, Prophet model inputs and outputs, and reporting – using Excel, Access, and database tools like Alteryx
  • Work with Prophet model to analyze and test output, functionality, details of calculations, and perform comparisons between new and old model
  • Research and gain familiarity with relevant product features and actuarial guidelines
  • Support model development team and respond to requests to aid with the build of the Prophet model
  • Develop and maintain strong documentation on testing results, decisions made throughout the project and new process procedures
  • Support emerging projects such as data system conversions and updating of processes and models for regulatory and accounting changes


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Actuarial Science
  • Two or more SOA exams passed
  • Actively pursuing ASA designation with Society of Actuaries
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, in particular MS Excel and MS Access
  • Exposure to any modern actuarial software (Prophet, MG ALFA, etc.) a plus
  • Knowledge of variable annuities a plus
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Able to balance multiple projects and adjust well to shifting project priorities
