How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Actuarial IT Prophet Technical Engineer, reporting to the Actuarial IT Technical Lead, is responsible for the technical design, implementation and support of Prophet, including development of Actuarial solutions / technology applications / platforms / assets, with primary initial focus on FIS Prophet / PMCS solutions.  This person will act as a technical SME with expertise comprising application landscape and how integration, data, infrastructure and security are implemented across the end-to-end Actuarial IT architecture. 

 

Work Location:

To protect the health and safety of our employees, our offices are closed until at least May 2021. When our offices reopen, the individual hired for this role will be based in our Charlotte, NC office, our Morristown, NJ office, or can continue to work remotely.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acts as the technical engineer in coordination with the Actuarial Business Analysis End-to-End Lead. Develops technical design and ensures delivery is consistent, aligning outputs to the highest strategic priorities.
  • This individual will be responsible for delivering the technical design, development, integration and delivery.   
  • Troubleshoots and provides resolution of technical issues.  Ensures adherence to quality standards and configuration deliverables.  Key input to technical reviews in partnership with Architecture, Delivery, Data & Analytics, Infrastructure, Security and Application Managed Service partners. 
  • As a hands-on Actuarial development engineer, ensures development of the technology is aligned with Brighthouse’s technology strategy, guiding principles and is watchful of technical decisions that have long-term consequences.
  • Support the management and maintenance of actuarial model operations in coordination with Valuation Actuarial and Model Stewards.
  • Assist with integration between the Prophet Managed Cloud Service (PMCS) and systems outside PMCS.
  • Assist with scheduling model runs for Prophet Enterprise and coordinate ad-hoc model run requests while helping to prioritize and resolve run conflicts.
  • Assist in the conversion of the valuation models into Prophet Enterprise and promote models and assumptions between environments.
  • Support model end-to-end testing i.e. Source – Model – Outputs
  • Assist with supporting the PMCS modeling environment, including the development and management of data integration code and coordination with data teams.
  • Develops and implements plans to operationalize / transition production components to Application Managed Service (AMS) vendor.

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 3-5 years of broad and deep experience in Actuarial technology roles (including application development, architecture, and engineering) with life/annuity/P&C experience.
  • Experience with Actuarial modeling software, specifically FIS Prophet Enterprise (Prophet Professional, Prophet Enterprise, Insurance Data repository), and/or FIS Data Conversion System (DCS).
  • Proven track record for designing, developing and implementing large-scale Actuarial technology solutions with technical depth and breadth.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable software, data, infrastructure and security products / services.  Experience in development tools / languages including Prophet valuation products with PMCS managed service installations.
  • Technical experience with ability to inspire the trust, confidence and respect of peers.  Superior customer relationship, communications, negotiation and conflict resolutions skills; extensive experience partnering with and managing vendors and consultants / contractors desired. 
  • Experience implementing BPO and SaaS solutions in Cloud and / or working in Agile methodology preferred.
  • Experience with software development process and controls.
  • Strong computer skills including Access, Excel and SQL.
