Investment Compliance Associate (Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or Remote)

How you’ll contribute: 
As a Compliance Associate, you’ll be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the insurance investments management compliance program, with a focus on ensuring the general account, managed separate accounts, and reinsurance trust accounts comply with applicable policies, procedures, and investment guidelines.  You will also be responsible for assisting with the administration of the compliance programs for Brighthouse Financial’s registered mutual funds, the Brighthouse Funds, and their affiliated investment adviser, Brighthouse Investment Advisers, LLC.


In this role, you’ll get to:
•    Perform compliance monitoring and testing for the Brighthouse Accounts; investigate pre and post-trade compliance alerts, working with various internal and external stakeholders to reconcile data issues; raise questions as appropriate to ensure reasonable solutions to business needs.

  • Identify and effectively communicate compliance issues internally and to external asset managers and service providers, lead remediation and document corrective action as appropriate. 
  • Compile data and provide periodic reporting to various internal stakeholders.
  • Prepare account compliance certifications.
  • Build new compliance rules, enhance existing compliance coding, investigate/troubleshoot potential errors within Aladdin.
  • Perform periodic reviews and document monitoring and/or testing results of the controls in place to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures and investment guidelines.
  • Support administration of the Brighthouse Investment Adviser and Brighthouse Funds compliance programs.
  • Perform due diligence and oversight of external money managers’ compliance programs and investment operations.
  • Support responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations.


We’re looking for people who have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree. (Preferred)
  • 3+ years of related experience in investment management and/or financial services industry.  
  • Technical knowledge and experience with investment compliance monitoring tools like (Aladdin, SQL, Sentinel, Charles River, thinkFolio or in-house systems), specifically coding experience is preferred.
  • Excellent Microsoft skills. (especially Word and Excel)
  • Understanding of different asset classes and knowledge of securities laws preferred.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills and ability to multi-task and work under pressure, while adhering to internal policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze risks and controls and determine when controls are not operating effectively.
  • Must be a dedicated, self-motivated individual with an ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Successful track record for delivering results in a timely manner.
  • Professional and articulate; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with ability to synthesize complex and diverse information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare presentations and materials in partnership with senior management.
  • An analytical and detail-oriented approach and the ability to provide practical solutions.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to take on responsibility.
