How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

Lead the full solution lifecycle from definition to implementation of finance and actuarial solutions as well as enabling operational support services. To drive those activities, applicants are required to have experience and working knowledge of the following domains:

  • Actuarial processes and operations
  • Finance processes and operations
  • Enterprise level data management
  • Data science
  • Business intelligence
  • Governance approaches


Key objectives for the role will be as follows:

  • Lead highly integrated cross-functional teams through the full implementation lifecycle of resilient data & analytics solutions.
  • Work with support teams to ensure long term stability and reliability of data and analytics solutions in alignment with a best in cost approaches and practices.
  • Perform analysis and provide thought leadership to ensure strategic alignment across the portfolio with areas adjacent to Actuarial and Finance
  • Drive the design and delivery of data and analytics solutions, platforms, and services to ensure the continuous realization of value.
  • Act as an advisor for the overall Chief Data Officer’s team and drive broader opportunities around data and analytics within the Actuarial and Finance areas.


Key Responsibilities:

Drive the end-to-end strategic portfolio and program management for the BHF Actuarial and Finance Businesses by aligning Development, Functional and non-Functional requirements for data & analytics capabilities. These efforts are to be executed in close coordination with IT Solution Owners, Infrastructure, Operations, Security, Transformation Office, and vendor partners to ensure an aligned and coordinated delivery of solutions and operational support services. This is inclusive of the following activities:


Analysis and Design

  • Structure and execute the analysis and assessment of business requirements into data and analytics solutions in conjunction with domain teams, architecture and engineering
  • Develop data requirements, flows, solution specifications, and testing approaches
  • Lead the design and implementation of data &analytics capabilities for Actuarial
  • Identify and execute opportunities to continually harden, enhance, and improve overall resilience of new and existing solutions
  • Address and mitigate open security and risk items in conjunction with audit, compliance, and enterprise security.


Delivery Excellence

  • Prioritize the product portfolio and feature roadmap in conjunction with strategic priorities and roadmaps
  • Develop business cases to validate investments and prioritization decisions
  • Develop and execute implementation plans in coordination with technology, business and transformation management office stakeholders
  • Manage product and program level demand, resource planning and financials to ensure efficient and timely delivery of critical needs within planned and forecasted budgets
  • Develop the discipline to ensure timely delivery of highly reliable data and data related solutions
  • Define and track metrics that demonstrate operational effectiveness and improvement opportunities.


Leadership and Teaming

  • Coordinate with peers and senior leadership to identify and prioritize key initiatives, systems level priorities, risks and issues.
  • Lead a mix of resources across BHF, Systems Integration, and Platform vendor partners to ensure teams have appropriate support to meet goals and that project risks are identified, mitigated and communicated to stakeholders


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Background in Financial Products development, pricing and actuarial with proven leadership and influence skills – This individual will be driving a fundamental transformation in the creation of our foundational data management and analytics capabilities.
  • Proven track record in developing, deploying and/or maintaining transactional systems, operational databases and data stores, data warehousing, reporting, analytics capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex, multi-disciplinary implementation projects.
  • 10+ years of experience in data and business intelligence delivery.
  • Familiarity with a range of data management, Business Intelligence approaches and the latest, tools, approaches, techniques, and methodologies in data and analytics development management.
  • Deep understanding and appreciation for both business and technology components of information management in insurance and financial services industry.
  • Proven track record in meeting aggressive deadlines.
