Director & Actuary (Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or Morristown, NJ (Hybrid) or Remote)

How you’ll contribute:
As a Director & Actuary, you’ll be responsible for supporting the variable annuity asset liability management strategy and valuation with a focus on actuarial and financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, and big data analysis related to variable annuities and RILA products. This individual will support the Strategical Analysis team in building analytic tools, identifying and measuring the key risk factors and prototype analysis and reporting package. The individual will play a leading role in developing and improving the ever-evolving statutory valuation related reporting and analysis. The individual will require strong technical skills in analysis and reporting using MS Office, database and big data processing using Python and other programming languages.
In this role, you’ll get to:
- Support the hedging, risk management & statutory valuation of variable annuities with living benefit riders (VA) and structured indexed annuities (SIA).
- Be agile and versatile in solving risk management issues under real time circumstances, using quantitative analysis tool and concept
- Identify and measure the impact of risk factors, including but not limited to actuarial, market, regulatory change to hedge program
- Deep knowledge of VA and RILA product and their modeling approach in facilitating problem solving and troubleshooting
- Familiar with the current statutory regulation for variable annuities and SIA such as VM-21 and keen in understanding and responding to the impact of regulation and reporting changes on capital and risk management
- Support the implementation of the Stat ESG developed by GOES for companywide stat and capital reporting.
- Advanced programming skills in at least one scientific language, such as Python, SQL, Matlab, C++, etc.
- Be able to build strong working relationships with constituents in and outside of the team, such as hedging and valuation teams.
We’re looking for people who have:
- Associate of Society of Actuaries, with Fellowship preferred
- Strong computing and programming skills with experience in Python (strongly preferred), Matlab, VBA, SQL, C++, etc.
- Experience with PathWise a plus
- Experience with big data analysis a plus
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn
- Can adjust work resources and deadlines in response to changing business priorities
