How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:
The Lead Data and Integration Architect is responsible for defining the enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence current, transitional and target state architectures and technology strategy that will be used for Brighthouse Financials’ solutions, as well as ensuring their alignment with the organization’s business and application architectures. This role will provide architecture guidance to solution architects and development teams to ensure that solutions align with the enterprise data, integration, analytics, and business intelligence architecture.

 

Key Responsibilities:
•    Works with the chief data officer and his team in translating business vision, strategy and objectives into an enterprise architecture that supports the following capabilities:

  • data storage and data warehousing
  • data governance
  • data lineage
  • metadata and master data management
  • data integration, data migration, data operations, data security
  • business intelligence
  • advanced analytics
  • application integration
  • API and service management
  • Integration governance

•    Develops, owns and communicates the following enterprise architecture artifacts:

  • Enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence solution architectures showing the following views:
    • Abstraction Level – Conceptual, Logical
    • Scope – Enterprise, Domain, Capability/Process
    • Time – Current, Transitional, Target
    • Depth – Level 1, Level 2
  •  Enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence reference architectures showing:
    • Capabilities
    • Principles
    • Standards and guidelines
    • Patterns

•    Drives the development of the enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence technology strategy and roadmap which include:

  • Gaps between current and target states
  • Recommended initiatives
  • Strategy and timeline for implementing initiatives

•    Understands the company’s data and how it is used, identifies its source (system of record, gold copy source) and designs its movement across the enterprise 
•    Guides the development of the enterprise data and messaging models. This includes the conceptual and logical models for:

  • Data at rest – i.e., canonical data model for the various enterprise data stores
  • Data in motion – i.e., messaging model for application and data integration

•    Guides solution architects in promoting best practices, using reference architectures, ensuring standardization across solution architectures and reflecting the enterprise data and integration architecture strategy in their solutions
•    Ensures that solution architectures are aligned with the enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence architecture
•    Ensures that the data, integration, analytics and business intelligence design is created for each solution based on the level 2 solution architecture
•    Ensures that design reviews are conducted prior to building components
•    Works closely with delivery teams throughout the build process to provide architecture guidance
•    Continuously researches and keeps up with latest trends, emerging technologies, new vendor products, new ways of doing things, assessing their applicability to Brighthouse Financial and incorporating them into the enterprise data, integration, analytics and business intelligence architecture
•    Participates in project planning and maintains related project architecture artifacts
•    May provide work guidance to other architects or consultants and oversee deliverables created by them
•    May act as a solution architect for data, integration, analytics and business intelligence related projects/programs

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
•    10+ years of experience architecting data management, analytics, business intelligence and application integration solutions
•    Experience within the insurance industry preferably life insurance and/or annuities
•    Experience using Azure PaaS and SaaS services for building data management solutions
•    Experience using and/or extensive knowledge of various technologies in the areas of data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical), data storage (lifecycle management, temperature management, archiving), data warehousing, data governance (taxonomy, stewardship, data quality, metadata management, lineage), master data management (master and reference data), data integration, data migration, data operations (error handling, monitoring, security), business intelligence (reporting, dashboarding) and advanced analytics (predictive analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence)
•    Experience using and/or extensive knowledge of various application integration technologies such as cloud integration, SaaS integration, API management, enterprise service bus, messaging, streaming, event management, managed file transfer, micro services, and service-oriented architecture
•    Ability to think strategically and apply abstract architectural concepts at an enterprise level
•    Experience using and/or extensive knowledge of one or more formal architecture frameworks such as FEAF, TOGAF, or Zachman; certification in any of them is a plus
•    Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey architectural concepts to business and technology peers as well as senior management
•    Effective leadership, influencing and negotiating skills
•    Ability to work simultaneously on multiple large, complex projects with minimal supervision
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline and/or equivalent work experience, Master’s degree in Computer Science is a plus
