How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The L&D Specialist develops and conducts specialized training programs for employees in Brighthouse Financial’s sales organization. The Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for analyzing training needs as explained by the business, developing curriculum and delivering programs. Learning and Development Specialists act as extensions of the organizations they support.  


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements and delivers training programs for individuals within assigned line of business
  • Coordinates training schedule and develops basic project plan with the assigned department
  • Formulates teaching outline and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings and workshops.
  • Selects or develops teaching aids such as training handbooks, demonstration models, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials and reference works.
  • Conducts training sessions covering specified areas such as on-the-job training, refresher training, etc.
  • Assists employees with problems concerning "how to" perform specific tasks related to their positions.
  • Makes suggestions on improving work procedures.
  • Develops strong relationships with internal customers to develop course materials and receive feedback.


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 - 5+ years insurance industry experience preferred including but not limited to Annuity Product and Sales experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and Series 6, 63, & Life License are required within 6 months of employment.
  • Basic knowledge of adult learning principles
  • Experience with eLearning software
  • Facilitation skills for effective classroom training delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Demonstrated basic project management skills with the ability to plan, identify, coordinate and track critical activities, milestones and deliverables
  • Demonstrates Executive Presence to inspire others and make smart decisions by virtue of their composure, talent, and maturity.
  • Ability to deliver effective and engaging presentations to a variety of audiences, by transmitting the message with clarity; interacting/engaging the audience; and interpret and understand the mindsets of the listeners knowing the audience.
  • Advanced with Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of Articulate and Qualtrics
  • Knowledge of SuccessFactors LMS system capabilities
