Model Validation Actuary (Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or Remote)

How you’ll contribute:

As a Model Valuation Actuary of the Model Risk Management (MRM) team, you’ll be responsible for leading end-to-end model validations and proactively shaping review practices in response to evolving regulatory and business environments. This position sits within the Corporate Risk Management and will collaborate closely with key stakeholders across different business functions including Pricing, Valuation, Asset Liability Management (ALM), and Audit.

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Lead model validations for actuarial and other quantitative models
  • Remain current in profession and industry trends, including upcoming NAIC Valuation Manual update.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on model risk, collaborating with various teams to influence model risk oversight
  • Provide support related to model development, validation and testing, through partnership with other teams, such as valuation, modeling, and pricing. Partners to understand their needs.
  • Support the Model Governance function by performing risk-based reviews
  • Identify solutions and/or develop tools for the ad-hoc requests from senior management and other teams.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

We’re looking for people who have:

  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation required, FSA designation highly desired
  • Possession of a strong desire and demonstrated ability to lead model reviews and model validation.
  • Strong financial modeling knowledge and experience
  • Strong working knowledge of financial statements under US Statutory reporting
  • Advanced experience with Excel and VBA, Python a plus
  • Experience in using actuarial modeling software such as Prophet or similar
  • Familiarity with PBR regulatory requirements (i.e., VM-20, VM-21, and the upcoming VM-22) is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
