How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Product Consultant will strive to be the annuity competitive product expert, monitoring and analyzing the retail annuity industry. This individual will be responsible for competitive research and product analysis as well as overall industry sales and trends. This individual will engage with our distribution partners and help position Brighthouse annuity products against competitors’ products. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Become an annuity competitive product expert, possessing a strong understanding of the industry, including both competitors’ and Brighthouse’s annuity products and its competitive positioning in the market
  • Proactively monitor/research competitors’ product filings, launches, and updates and communicate relevant changes
  • Create, maintain and update portals and databases that contain key competitive intelligence documents
  • Maintain benchmarking of competitor products’ rates and features and utilize benchmarking to analyze and communicate product trends
  • Compile and analyze quarterly annuity industry sales/trends and competitor movement  
  • Develop annuity competition material for training of new internal and external wholesalers 
  • Serve as key contact for internal and external wholesalers for competitive positioning of our products
  • Establish working relationships across various internal departments and support areas including product development, distribution and marketing as well as key carrier counterparts 
  • Identify opportunities to enhance and/or improve existing processes to increase efficiency where applicable
  • Work on ad-hoc projects with varying complexity

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • 3 to 5 + years of related experience in the annuity industry
  • FINRA SIE and Series 6 or 7 license preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Brighthouse Financial annuity products and top annuity carriers’ products
  • Effective interpersonal, time management, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented with high standard of accuracy for information that is compiled
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel & PowerPoint
  • Proactively expand knowledge of annuity industry and products 
  • Adaptable and responsive to changing business priorities with positive attitude
