Reinsurance Technology Lead (Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) or Remote)

How you’ll contribute: 
As a Reinsurance Technical Lead – Finance Information Systems, you’ll be responsible for the technical design, implementation, and oversight of technical solutions to achieve strategic business objectives following BHF standards and procedures reporting to the Reinsurance IT Director Solution Delivery. This includes technical management across multiple Reinsurance solutions / technology applications / platforms / assets, with primary initial focus on TAI solution. In this role you will be the technical SME with expertise comprising application landscape and how integration, data, infrastructure and security are implemented and managed for these solutions across the end-to-end IT architecture.  

 

In this role, you’ll get to:

  • Provide technical support reporting to the Reinsurance IT Director Solution Delivery supporting (development / configuration / engineering) vision into reality.  Act as a technical lead and ensure alignment to technology strategy with Technology partners in coordination with the Reinsurance Business Analyst. Develops technical design and ensures delivery is consistent, aligning outputs to the highest strategic priorities.  Assess technical fit of solution suitability for business objectives, for now and for the future, balancing standardization and innovation.
  • Research, communicate and help drive resolution for project challenges.
  • Establish and maintain a document repository containing documentation for all current business processes and reports.
  • Streamline and create efficiencies in the annuity business process through technical aids
  • Facilitate clear and concise written and verbal communication with all levels of internal and third-party business and technical project teams
  • Monitor design and development for significant deviations; invoke contingency plans when necessary. Troubleshoot and lead resolution of technical issues.  
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and review code / configuration deliverables.  
  • Work to identify improvements, while ensuring optimization of expenses. Lead technical reviews in partnership with Architecture, Delivery, Data & Analytics, Infrastructure, Security and Application Managed Service partners.  
  • Ensure that staff and contractors develop and maintain technology aligned with Brighthouse Financial’s technology strategy and guiding principles. Lead technical solutioning to closure across partners, resolve technical challenges, understand and present pros and cons when decisions are made. 

 

We’re looking for people who have: 

  • Self-driven motivation to understand, identify, resolve and recommend options to solve complex business issues with technology solutions
  • General knowledge of reinsurance area strongly preferred TAI software experience a plus 
  • Software development methodology experience (agile and/or waterfall)
  • Ability to produce and decipher complex technical use cases, user stories, process flows, diagraming, data analysis, data mapping, interfaces, reporting and testing activities on web and hosted
  • Technical experience with ability to inspire the trust, confidence and respect of peers.  Superior customer relationship, communications, negotiation and conflict resolutions skills; extensive experience partnering with and managing vendors and consultants / contractors desired. 
  • Experience implementing BPO and SaaS solutions in Cloud and / or working in Agile methodology preferred.
  • Developed understanding of enterprise technical landscape (insurance background a plus).
  • Passion for innovation and dedication to enterprise technology development objectives.
  • Strong computer skills including Access, Excel and SQL.
