How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Sr. IT Solution Owner (Sr. ITSO) is a key member in the Managed Services team that will be the first point of contact with all business users, vendors and other stakeholders. Agile creativity, deep persistence and ability to forge relationships are the key attributes of this role. The Sr. ITSO will identify and evangelize best practices, automation of cloud workloads and developing processes that deliver scalable, reliable production software in a modern cloud environment. This individual will be driving consensus within the Brighthouse and vendor teams and help the team meet key business objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to navigate the organization, influence decision makers and win trust as a key partner to business, technology and vendor teams
  • Partner with application developers, product managers, and vendors to create a seamless service delivery model
  • Utilize hands on programming expertise to drive consensus and provide oversight to the development team(s)
  • Actively troubleshoot any issues that arise during testing and production
  • Accountable for custom development, integration and implementation activities in VA Hedging and other highly complex projects
  • Define strategic roadmap of technology in partnership with business, data and vendor teams
  • Serve as conduit between senior management and business partners, technology stakeholders and vendors
  • Drives recommendations into the annual strategic planning process, ensuring alignment to the strategic priorities
  • Stay current with industry trends and source new ways for our technologies to improve

 

Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • A proven track record for 10+ years of implementing critical large-scale solutions with a broad range of exposure to business units 
  • Experience in distributed computing, actor model and large-scale event-based programming, and resolution of large-scale business problems using reactive microservices
  • Prior experience and knowledge of business processes is a critical requirement for this role. Experience with either Capital Markets, VA ALM and/or Annuity Insurance products, valuation and financial reporting processes is required. Having experience in multiple business areas
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, inspire and guide technology and operations teams using deep technology expertise and hands on programming skills 
  • Experience of Capital Markets platforms such as Numerix, Blackrock Aladdin, or Valuation platforms such as Prophet, PathWise, PolySystems 
  • Development experience with Akka, Scala and Java 
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum or Kanban) 
  • Self-driven ability to understand, uncover, resolve and recommend options to solve complex business issues with technology solutions
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, ProtoBuf and gRPC
  • Experience with Mongo, Cassandra and Postgres databases
