How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This position supports variable and fixed annuity asset liability management and risk assessment. This role reports to the Head of Quantitative Services with a focus on reporting, modeling, sensitivity analysis, project management, and documentation as a utility player. This individual will support the asset liability management team in producing periodic risk reports and performance attribution. The individual will play a leading role in developing, improving, documenting and evolving hedge related reporting and analysis. The individual will require strong technical skill in analysis and reporting, database and various programming language, such as Python.


Work Location:

To protect the health and safety of our employees, our offices are closed until at least September 2021. When our offices reopen, the individual hired for this role will be based in our Morristown, NJ or Charlotte, NC office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for developing and maintaining variable annuities (VA), fixed indexed annuities (FIA), and structured indexed annuities (SIA) valuation tools for hedging and risk management.
  • Be responsible for producing monthly risk and attribution reports, as well as supporting related financial reports.
  • Perform derivative asset valuation in support of the reporting, hedging performance attribution, projection and risk measurement.
  • Perform analysis using tools like Python, SQL.
  • Keep strong documentation on model updates, process changes and control.
  • Coordinate with business partners in maintaining production processes, implementation schedules, assumptions, modeling approaches and regulatory and reporting change
  • Respond to internal and external audit and model risk review with documentation and analysis
  • Mentor 1-2 junior associates


Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Degree in mathematics or statistics, or actuarial science
  • Fellowship of Society of Actuaries
  • Experienced in either Variable Annuity for pricing, valuation or hedging.
  • Strong computing and programming skills with experience in Python, VBA, SQL, etc. Familiar with Numerix and PathWise software package is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Past people management experience a plus
  • Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn
  • Can adjust work resources and deadlines in response to changing business priorities
