How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for activities in support of coordination of the financial close at the enterprise level. Responsible for ensuring data integrity of the SAP and BPC financial systems. This position works with other corporate departments and IT. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports daily integrity of financial data. This includes but is not limited to:
    •  Monitors the timing of ledger feeds, etc. in coordination with IT
    •  Ensures financial data is accurate and timely. This includes Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Equity Pick Up, and Trial Balance. Communicates with stakeholders as needed
    •  Partners with FIS and works with enterprise-wide system users for completion and integrity of financial data
    •  Performs reconciliation of enterprise wide eliminations. Identifies and brings issues to resolution
    •  Records BPC entries and maintain entry log. Supports audit testing of entries
    •  Performs reconciliation and issue resolution of targeted accounts Supports timely and accurate completion of quarterly closes. This includes but is not limited to:
    •  Preparation of sign-off documentation support for management
    •  Account reconciliation and collaboration with various enterprise partners
  •  Meets established close activity dates while maintaining a controlled environment
  •  Develops financial reports to provide management with timely information
  •  Maintains required SOX documentation for controls
  •  Processes Chart of Values requests
  •  Participates in special projects as required

 

   Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  •  B.A./B.S. in Accounting/Finance or equivalent preferred
  •  3 to 5 years of experience in Accounting/Finance
  •  Completion of/or progress towards CPA, MBA, or CMA a plus
  •  Knowledge of US GAAP, consolidations, eliminations, insurance accounting, and US STAT a plus
  •  Strong project, program, and change management skills
  •  Experience in coordination of financial close activities in a corporate environment
  •  Microsoft applications knowledge – Excel (Intermediate to Advanced), AO, and Word
  •  SAP, BPC, and MDG systems knowledge a plus
  •  Demonstrated analytical skills
  •  Ability to work with associates at all levels, including senior management
  •  Ability to produce results and carry out initiatives independently
  •  Ability to work within tight time constraints and multiple priorities
  •  Effective verbal and written communication skills
  •  Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills
