How This Role Contributes to Brighthouse Financial:

This position is responsible for the accounting and administration of the Company’s insurance treaties/contracts with outside companies. This includes performing the financial close process, calculating various accrual and settlement amounts, and coordinating requirements and requests related to clients companies and other departments within the organization.


Work Location:

To protect the health and safety of our employees, our offices are closed until at least May 2021. When our offices reopen, the individual hired for this role will be based in our Tampa, FL office.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly, quarterly, annual financial close process for entities such as treaty settlement and reconciliations
  • Calculate premiums, expense allowances, claims administration/accruals, cash settlements, and other activities as required for the financial close process
  • Coordinate and prepare various reporting per treaty and financial requirements
  • Develop and maintain documentation of procedures
  • Coordinate various requests from internal and external customers, including team members, client companies and auditors, and prepare and distribute data and documentation as required
  • Support system enhancement and conversion projects as needed
  • Support financial analysis of entities with data validation and reconciliations
  • Provide support on feasibility studies and financial impact attribution as required
  • Perform other related activities as required


 Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years of experience in an accounting or related discipline
  • Experience with financial reporting preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, complex formulas, vlookups required
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, willing and able to work with clients
  • Knowledge of insurance concepts, principles, and practices a plus
  • TAI administration system a plus
  • Team player who has the collaborative skills to work within project teams.
